Bedroom Shutters
Bedrooms ask more of a shutter than any other room: privacy, light control and something that looks calm in daylight. Here is how to specify one that does all three.
How dark do you need it?
This is the question that decides the style. Louvred shutters closed tight cut a great deal of light but they are not blackout — light passes at the louvre edges. If you sleep lightly or the room faces a street lamp, be honest about that now rather than after fitting.
- Solid panel shutters have no louvres at all — a solid panel that closes flat. They block far more light than any louvred shutter, and they are the right answer for a genuinely dark room. Available in our Classic and Signature collections.
- Full height louvred shutters give you the tilt control most bedrooms want: angle the louvres up and you get light on the ceiling without anyone seeing in.
- Tier-on-tier lets you shut the bottom for privacy and leave the top open — useful in a bedroom you also use in the day.
Louvre size changes the feel
We offer three: 63 mm, 76 mm and 89 mm. The 76 mm is our most popular and the safe middle choice. Larger 89 mm louvres give a clearer view out and a more contemporary look; 63 mm reads as more traditional and suits a period bedroom.
Colours
Classic and Endurance carry thirteen colours. Signature and Heritage add four wood tones on top, which is where you go for warmth against a painted wall:

- You price it online. Enter the size and see the cost straight away — no callback, no survey.
- Made to your millimetres. Every shutter is made to the sizes you give us.
- You collect and fit. Collection is from Retford, and our fitting guides take it from there.
Because it is supply-only, there is no surveyor's visit and no fitter's day rate in the price.
